Higher Education Progression Framework
The Higher Education Progression Framework, developed by Action on Access, is central to the 2008-11 phase of Aimhigher.
A model for the delivery of sequential and progressive activity by Aimhigher partnerships in schools and colleges, the Framework aims to facilitate effective cross-sector collaboration by placing the emphasis on individual learner progression in line with both the aims of widening participation and school and college priorities.
The Framework seeks to provide guidance based on the following core principles that the model should:
1. be targeted as designated cohorts or individual learners (and their influencers), who will be supported by a clear learner-focused journey which adds value in terms of specific outcomes
2. extend choice and secure impartiality, most notably at key transition points
3. deliver clusters of activity which are flexible, locally determined and learner-focused, ensuring coherence across providers and adding value to the activities of partners, other frameworks and improvement plans
4. seek to demonstrate a robust evidence base which evaluates the impact of a sequence of activities on progression and attainment and which articulates with local systems to track learners
5. be cost effective
